About Huge Thing

2017 Edition

Current edition of HugeThing is carried out in cooperation with one of the largest financial company in Europe, namely Alior Bank.

The fourth edition of Huge Thing is carried out in cooperation with Alior Bank within the ScaleUp program – supported by the Polish Agency for Enterprise Development. The goal of the entire program is the commercialization of projects with the highest potential; meaning, initializing market sales of new products or technology licenses, in cooperation with the program’s partners. This edition of Huge Thing is addressed to startups from CEE, who have their MVP – a basic form of product/solution, which has passed its first market testing.

AtticLab – Initially, they introduced the openbankit – a free open-source blockchain-based platform for e-money and digital assets management. But in process of communication with program members, they decided to transform the project in Qrify – the Blockchain based system aiming to attract more customers to the bank.

BillTech – They built an easy app that aggregates bill payments. Their platform let people either pay their bills with a single click or fully automate the payments. BillTech plan to keep their service free for users and monetize on complementary services

BmyBit has developed a Personal Automated Trading System (PATS). PATS makes automated trading with digital assets available for everyone. It uses APIs to gather a number of liquidity providers, which creates no limits on scalability

bNesis – streamlines API integrations and teaches banking systems, even if it is legacy ones, “to talk” to billing, payment, financial and systems of other banks simplifying and automating data transfer between them

Boson –  aims to create an ecosystem of global digital identities and a blockchain-based protocol allowing multiple points of user verification. The goal is to allow any community-trusted entities such as governments, telecoms, banks, etc. to provide you with a verified internet identity usable to conduct business in the whole world, not only the country of origin.

Gleep – voice conferencing AI agent that removes the pain of doing conference calls. It will save you massive amount of time by automatically create a transcript, extract keywords and action points and make a summary of the call, who said what and when. It will allow you to search through thousands of audio calls like you would search on google and find out who said what and who promised what.

Lendguru – helps SMEs optimize their finances. Their goal is to provide business owners with CFO at click-distance service, giving actionable advice and forecast-based decision-making tools for financial management. They have developed a dashboard, which provides information on the current cash standing of the company and benchmarks against the industry.

More Money  – AI based personal finance assistant that helps you pay less for your telco and banking services. They offer a simple and easy to use solution using artificial intelligence and chat-based interface.

Positiverse –  provides the myConsents solution which eases compliance with the new EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and equips companies with a reliable, secure and tamper-proof consents management system. We aim to enable companies and institutions to build a more engaged relationship with customers through presenting high respect to the customers’ privacy rights.

Pre-acceleration

Pre-acceleration – 3 weekends of workshops concerning e.g. adopting the right business model, budget development, project pitching, or legal aspects of running a business. Pre-accelerator is meant for Huge Thing team to better understand the specificity of each startup so they can better address their needs during the proper acceleration period.  Additionally, during this time Huge Thing partners  got the chance to verify the possibility of future cooperation with startups.

Acceleration

A single edition of Huge Thing consists of 16 weeks of workshops held in the Brain Embassy in Warsaw, Poland.

First week of acceleration is meant to set up each startup goals to be achieved during the program. There’ll be a time for consultations with startups’ individual mentors.

Later on, group workshops with market experts will take place from Monday to Wednesday each week. The Brain Embassy space, that Huge Thing takes place in, will be accessible for teams on Thursdays and Fridays, so they can work there on their products and implement acquired knowledge. Moreover, business people and startup experts will be available from Monday to Friday for one-on-one sessions.

Weeks 1 – 6 (5th of June – 7th of July)

During first 6 weeks of the program teams will conduct the customer development process, meaning defining a problem, meeting prospective clients, identifying target groups, and educating themselves on techniques regarding presenting to their customers, and design thinking. Additionally, topics such as, product UX and onboarding, pitching and preparing pitch deck, marketing, communication, and distribution channels, will be covered.

Huge Thing mentors will help teams to develop their startups in the right direction and in the right pace. Issues regarding pricing, creating a budget and payment methods will be discussed.

From the very beginning, teams will closely work with Alior Bank representative, so they can together develop the path of future potential implementation.

Weeks 7 – 9 (10th of July– 28th of July)

When the module based on the Lean Canvas method is over, startups will have 3 weeks to confront their ideas with market experts. During this period, instead of group workshops, there will be only individual sessions. Teams will analyze their progress and plan their next steps.

Weeks 9 – 18 (31st of July – 20th of September)

During last 9 weeks, startups will focus on the process of financing the project. Additionally, they will learn how to build a team and manage its competencies.

Startups will participate in Speed Dating with investors. They’ll meet financial directors of large corporations, and participate in “Talent Day”, where they can find potential partners for their project.

During the program, teams will visit Berlin and London. The aim of these visits is to get to know local startup scenes, but also participation in meetings with potential partners.

Last week of the program will be fully intended to prepare teams for the final Demo Day.

Demo Day (20th of September)

Demo Day, that is the official final event of the accelerator program, creates a possibility to present yourself in front of investors, and offers a chance to meet new business partners.

When the acceleration program is over, startups become the Huge Thing’s Alumni. Huge Thing relations with participating startups do not end that day. Similarly to other editions, Huge Thing team stays in touch with teams, supporting them and monitoring their progress.

At the same time, the organizers note that the program conditions may change.
